Application redesign

Breathe a new life into your app

When the idea behind your product is sound, the code is performant, and yet your app is still struggling, it’s time to verify the user experience. There’s hard data that proves making your app more readable and customer-friendly will naturally result in more conversions and better customer retention – we have dozens of examples to prove it. So, is it time for an app redesign?

This is how we do it!

1. UX/ UI audit

It helps to have an extra set of eyes to tell you how others see your app. Which is why our experienced designers can go through your app screen by screen to see how it performs, how readable it is, and how easy it is to navigate. Then they’ll propose improvements that could benefit user experience.

2. Workshops

We find that it’s best to discuss proposed changes with you and learn more about your point of view. So after the audit, we’ll meet with you and explain in detail what we’ve found and what we think we could improve upon, and then together come up with a plan on how to move forward.

3. New designs

Once we’ve agreed on the changes, it’s time for our designers to get to the real work! They will first prepare some mood boards, wireframes, or even interactive prototypes, so that you can be involved in the process and see progress every step of the way.

4. Collaterals

A natural “by-product” of this process is a component library that we’ll create. It contains information on what colors, fonts and typography were used, how key components look, or how buttons change in different states, etc. You can use all these in future development.

5. Monitoring

After a successful redesign, we like to monitor how it made a difference. Either through reviews and interviews or simply hard data (such as conversion and retention rates), we can track changes in customer behaviors to evaluate the effectiveness of the new design.

When do I need to redesign my app?

Complaints from users

Negative feedback and reviews from users are a surefire sign it’s time to redesign your product. Don’t worry, though! Whether they complain the app is hard to navigate or a bit fusty, with adequate user research and input from good designers like ours you can get your app back on track!

Drops in metrics

Sometimes you won’t have access to direct user feedback, but there will be signs. A drop in metrics such as conversion and retention rates is a clear indicator that users are not engaging with your product and ready to abandon it. If you’re having trouble measuring, interpreting, or acting upon these metrics, our team will be happy to help you!

Rebranding

Perhaps you’re targeting a new audience, merging with a different company, or simply need to freshen up your design – whatever the reason for rebranding your app, it will surely require redesigning it as well. It’s a great opportunity not just to change the design, but also to rethink some of the choices based on everything you’ve already learned about your users!

Outdated solutions

Software lifecycle is pretty short. Digital design styles go in and out of fashion, but even more importantly, operating systems and platforms on which software exists are being constantly updated and equipped with new features. Whomever can’t keep up with the trends falls into obsolescence, which is why it’s so important to regularly update and sometimes redesign your app.

New features

It’s not just operating systems that change – your app probably changes a lot as well. As you add new, exciting features, at some point it might be more beneficial to overhaul the entire design rather than keep building up on top of it. Especially when you’re introducing major changes to user flow or experience, a redesign may become necessary.

Issues with accessibility

Accessibility is becoming an increasingly more important feature of all software and we’re seeing more and more solutions that are meant to help it. If your app is not accessible, you’re missing out on a huge chunk of available audience. However, making your app more accessible isn’t so simple and requires careful planning, skilled design, and proper implementation.

Does that apply to you?

Then we can help you identify issues with your app and professionally redesign it in a way that will delight your customers. Let’s schedule a call!
